Men’s rule changes for the 24/25 season
Several rule changes have been made ahead of the 2024/25 season, with the English men’s rulebook being further aligned with the rules set out by World Lacrosse.
Although there have been several changes, there are only two that are likely to have any practical impact that players, coaches and clubs should be aware of. These are 29.2 & 29.3.
‘During the last 30 seconds of the first, second, and third quarters, the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter, and during any overtime period, the game clock and, if applicable, the penalty clock(s) shall stop whenever the ball becomes dead, and they shall restart whenever play is restarted’. This changes from clocks stopping for the last 3 minutes of the fourth quarter and during any overtime period.
‘The interval between the first and second quarters shall be of 2 minutes duration. At half-time, the interval shall be 10 minutes long. At three-quarter time, the interval shall be 2 minutes’. This changes from 2 minutes, 10 minutes and 3 minutes under the previous rules.
More details about the rule changes can be found on the England Lacrosse website here.
